Green Party of Virginia Opposes Del-Mar Fracked Gas Pipeline Expansion Stands in Solidarity with Maryland Green Party

The Green Party of Virginia (GPVA) stands in solidarity with our comrades and allies in Maryland who are resisting the Del-Mar fracked gas pipeline being constructed along the Delmarva Peninsula. If this pipeline is completed it would further entrench our reliance on fossil fuels, and increases risks of environmental damage to Virginians on the Eastern Shore.

On March 16th, 2021, our nation was rocked once again by another mass shooting, this time targeted against Asian women in the Atlanta Metro Area. This horrendous act of violence that resulted in the deaths of 8 individuals, 6 of whom were Asian women, characterizes America’s underlying problems of racism and sexism, as well as the resurgence of anti-Asian sentiments that have accompanied the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Green Party of Virginia condemns multiple provisions of the recently introduced H.R.1, otherwise known as the For the People Act, which undermines third parties. The bill, while purporting to expand democracy, includes changes to rules governing the public financing of campaigns that are aimed squarely at limiting the participation of third parties.

Green Party of Virginia Statement: Democratic Governors Joint Statement on Threats to American Democracy Is Hypocrisy

On September 30th Virginia Governor Ralph Northam's Office released a "Governors Joint Statement" signed by Northam and 10 other Democratic governors, purporting to affirm that they "do not take for granted the sacred right of every American to cast a vote, and to have that vote counted.” (1) They further affirmed that they had a "solemn duty" to ensure the integrity of our democratic processes. But in reality, there is a significant disconnect between these governors' fine words and the actions of the Democratic Party in this election.
